voyage no LAST UPDATE  June 6, 2006
Peace Boat's 46th Voyage will set sail from Tokyo on July 14, 2004 and return to Japan 97 days later on October 19, 2004. This voyage will call in 20 countries and pass through both the Suez and Panama canals. Calling in at Greece on the Opening Day of the Athens 2004 Olympics, Peace Boat will be celebrating the return of the Games to their birthplace and joining with the Greek people to urge the world to observe the traditional practice of the "Olympic Truce": a ceasefire for the Games' duration.

The call at New York will include the third anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks and we will join in solidarity with local peace organisations to mourn the victims of the tragedy and victims of wars everywhere, and to share visions for international civil society cooperation towards a peaceful and just world. In Sri Lanka, Colombia and Northern Ireland, exchange visits with community groups will explore civil society perspectives on the reality of war, conflict resolution and peace.

With a pair of women from each country, they carried out long discussion and brainstorming sessions over five intense days at sea. >>Read more
