Central to the vibrant onboard programme of Peace Boat are the self-planned events organized by the participants. The Director's Meeting is held daily and is a way for participants to find out about: getting involved in Peace Boat's various project teams; becoming a volunteers to assist the many guest educators; helping to produce the Peace Boat TV channel; supporting the campaign to promote Japan's Article 9 peace constitution; writing and publishing the onboard newspaper; photographing and reporting events and activities in ports of call; organizing the public announcement (P.A.) system and technical logistics for events; and arranging the logistics for deliveries of support goods (aid) throughout the voyage.

Individuals are also encouraged to host their own events, and although the voyage has only just gotten underway, the schedule is already busy with an array of activities. With over 700 participants onboard, there are a diverse range of people sharing their many different talents, including classes in photography, yoga, painting, Japanese dance, karate, tai chi, piano, juggling, and sports events such as tennis, soccer and basketball.
