The natural beauty of Alaska and the Hubbard glacier
Killer whales, dolphins, seals and sea otters welcomed Peace Boat to the icy waters and stunning Alpine glaciers of Alaska. At over 100 kilometres long, the Hubbard glacier reaches down from the mountains and into the ocean where chunks of ice spectacularly fall into the water in a process known as "calving."

Slowly navigating around small icebergs and through rocky channels, Peace Boat passed within metres of virgin pine forests and majestic cliff faces. The deep water allowed the ship to moor almost at the foot of the glacier, as participants marvelled at the huge sheets of ice that occasionally cascaded into the sea.
