Peter Orwa teaches some of his dance moves to a willing student
Peter Orwa, and his group of talented musicians from Kenya, arrived on the Peace Boat pounding drums and stomping feet, as they danced and played to the hand-clapping foot-tapping audience, inviting many on stage to feel the rhythm and power of African music. Telling jokes in both Japanese and English, then frenetically beating the 'djembe' drum, Peter explained that he spent five years in Japan as a professional boxer before becoming a musician and performer.

He has travelled the world performing as a dancer and singer, and will be holding workshops in African dance, drumming and Swahili while onboard. Even after leaving the ship in Mombasa, this multi-talented guest will still be entertaining and sharing his knowledge of Kenya with Peace Boat participants, as he leads a safari tour of his homeland's stunning wildlife.
