A razzamatazz welcome from the teachers of the GET programme
A singing and dancing introduction of the two Spanish and eleven English teachers opened Peace Boat's largest ever language programme. Over 160 students packed into the Broadway Lounge (the main public event space onboard) to meet the instructors that will be teaching them for the next three months.

The GET programme focuses on developing communication skills that can be used throughout the world. Apart from traditional classroom teaching, the course offers a number of onboard events as well as various exchange programmes in the English-speaking ports of call.

For example, in Cochin, India, students will experience everyday Indian life on an overnight stay in a local family's house. In Kenya, they will have the choice of visiting an orphanage, passing over in person support goods such as English books, and playing with the children, or going on an overnight safari and taking part in a cultural exchange with traditional Kenyan dancers.

Students will have opportunities throughout the voyage - at sea and on land - to practice their new language skills in many 'real life' situations, whether asking for directions in an unfamiliar place, haggling for a bargain while shopping or simply making new friends in a foreign country.
