The Captain of tss The Topaz introduces the crew
The captain introduced himself and his international crew to over 800 participants at a formal dinner and dance which formed the official welcome ceremony of Peace Boat's 41st voyage. The immaculate white uniforms of the officers dazzled in the spotlights as guests toasted 'tss The Topaz' on her maiden voyage with Peace Boat, while the captain pledged the support of his crew who hail from over 20 countries to help make Peace Boat's mission a success.

The 41st Voyage will visit 19 ports on four continents over the course of 96 days, before returning full circle to Japan on September 18. The itinerary includes destinations as diverse as Naha (Okinawa) and New York, Mombasa and Montego Bay. Tying these disparate locations together is a desire by Peace Boat participants to learn from and share with the local people and guest educators who be onboard along the way, as well as a wish for peace and friendship to be the best souvenir taken from each country, as well as the legacy left behind. It is in this spirit that the captain's toast of , 'Bon Voyage to the participants and crew of Peace Boat's 41st Global Voyage!' took on a special meaning.
