| Bao Minh brings the Vietnamese language to life for the Japanese audience |
Peace Boat guest Bao Minh from the Hue based organization The Japanese Association Supporting Street Children (JASS) in Vietnam has been teaching participants beginners' level Vietnamese in the days leading up to the ship's arrival in Danang, Vietnam on 17 December. The three-session course has attracted over 100 eager students. With the help of Moeko Fukuda, who has also worked in the JASS street children's home, Bao used interactive teaching methods to introduce participants to useful phrases relating to food and money, compliments and everyday greetings. Judging from the enthusiasm in the classes, participants can't wait to meet up with local people, including the young Vietnamese living at the street children's home during a Peace Boat exposure study tour, to try out their newly acquired communication skills. |
