Passenger and volunteer staff Chone, teaching her native language, Korean
As well as the English and Spanish open classes held every morning, participants have been flocking to other language lessons offered by both participants and staff alike in the run-up to the various ports. Basic greetings and Arabic for haggling, as well as the number system were introduced by GET teachers Meredith and Susan who have both spent time living in the Middle East. Emin Yilmaz's Turkish language classes gathered crowds, while in other parts of the ship some passengers are learning Korean with participant Chone. Others can be seen practicing sign language in a self-planned event by passenger Mitsuyo who is teaching students how to sign the 39th cruise's departure song! Finally, with Marseille on the horizon, a course of survival French offered by GET coordinator Robin and Alice, the English homepage writer, aims to equip those first-time visitors to Europe with enough French to get by politely in restaurants and break the ice on exchange tours. As the voyage continues perhaps each new continent will see the appearance of yet more volunteer teachers!
