Diana Narvaez Martin, the Web Reporter for the 70th Global Voyage, is not only a Colombian national but a global citizen that has lived in Canada and Japan for the last 10 years. Living abroad has been an experience that she cherishes above all as it has given her the opportunity to interact with people from different cultures and backgrounds, and share their traditions and customs. Some of her favorite activities also include Latin dance, writing poetry and learning foreign languages.

Diana has a keen interest on international affairs and has recently completed a Master’s degree in Global Studies at Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan. Throughout her academic career, she has conducted various studies that address pressing global issues in the fields of international security and human rights. She truly enjoys researching and conveying her findings and analyses in a critical and innovative manner.

She is also passionate about making the world a better place, one filled with harmony and tolerance, where all can have and share a genuine smile with others. Following this commitment, she has actively supported various programs and campaigns in the non-profit sector, including the work of Peace Boat, where she previously worked as an intern. In addition, she pursued a training program on International Human Rights Law and Humanitarian Assistance at the United Nations University in Tokyo, Japan in order to provide adequate assistance to vulnerable populations.

On the 70th voyage, Diana hopes to gain a first-hand understanding of the world, immerse in new communities, and reflect and share these experiences through her writings. Her reports are intended to raise awareness about global-local interactions and to create a larger community of people engaged in the building of sustainable peace and development.
