Peace Boat's 70th Global Voyage departed from Japan on August 2, 2010 to visit 20 ports in 18 countries around the world, through Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe and Latin America. This voyage will feature Peace Boat's first visit to Nicaragua since its first global voyage in 1990, where a peace festival and a range of exchange and study programmes will be organised, and medical relief goods will be delivered. Another highlight of the voyage will be the first ever "Global School" onboard Peace Boat, where Japanese youth experiencing social difficulties including hikikomori will participate in workshops on communication and other social skills, learning to celebrate diversity as seen throughout their global voyage. The voyage will return to Japan on October 20, 2010.
