What if heterosexuals were the minority? A dramatization exploring this question kicked off a series of discussions on the 67th voyage about sexuality. The series explored the outlook and challenges faced by sexual minorities. Presenters encouraged onboard participants to “Be the Change” in their families and communities by helping to promote respect and equality for sexual minorities.

Guest Educator Ota Masakuni joined the 67th voyage from Las Palmas, Spain to Havana, Cuba. Through a series of lectures, he explored the personalities and ideologies that have shaped Latin American politics and society. Mr Ota spent several years living and working in the region and is particularly well-known in Japan for his expertise on Che Guevera and the Cuban Revolution.

The journey across the Atlantic Ocean towards Latin America was all about Salsa on the 67th voyage. Ahead of the Salsa Festival in Havana, Cuba, participants were eager to learn the steps. Guest Educators Nana and Martinezu (left to right) were on hand to teach them all the right moves.

Team Lion King emerged the champions at the end of an action packed Sports Day on October 27. Here Lion King competes in the jump rope race. The winning team was rewarded with a free party in the onboard restaurant.

Exchange programmes in Ecuador culminated with a concert in Manta. Ecuadorean rock music and Japanese Taiko (traditional drumming) were among the performances enjoyed by the crowd.
