A university graduate of International Relations, History and Language, Dan Freeborn has an insatiable curiosity for the unknown. Hailing from South Australia, Dan has lived in Argentina, England and Spain, and currently resides in Japan, where he has been indulging his love for the outdoors snowboarding and teaching English. An experienced bicycle mechanic and avid broadcaster of the virtues of cycling, he has helped co-ordinate and run community bicycle workshops and bicycle recycling programmes in both Adelaide, Australia and Barcelona, Spain.
Due to a great love for experiencing the natural beauty of the world, learning about new concepts and cultures and meeting new people, Dan has had myriad great experiences travelling throughout the world. Yet he has also been witness to adverse poverty, social injustice, environmental degradation and community struggles. Dan believes that in order to solve these and many other contemporary problems of the world, a concerted community effort of education and dialogue needs to be made, leading to understanding and change. At this time of a global shift in paradigm, Dan is excited to be working with Peace Boat conveying this philosophy to the world. |
