| The Manhattan skyline as viewed from Peace Boat as it approached New York Harbour. Peace Boat spent a total of three days in New York, learning about the various components of US society. |
Crossing the Atlantic en route to New York, the focus of Peace Boat onboard programmes was shifted from environment and sustainability towards United States policies and the contemporary issues that are taking place in this changing country. The recent change in the US administration for many ended an era of conservative rule and signified the beginning of a change towards progressive policies, with high expectations that they will result in improved international relations abroad and a better social system within. Representing this change is the new President, and significantly the first ever non-Caucasian President of the US, Barrack Obama. >>READ MORE |
