| Peace Boat's 64th Global Voyage will depart from Yokohama on December 18, and spend 106 days travelling throughout the southern hemisphere. The continuation of environmental education programmes initiated during the ship's inaugural visit to the Antarctic region in early 2008 will be a highlight. This voyage will also feature Peace Boat's first visit to an independent Timor-Leste, a chance to work with and show solidarity for the people of this new nation. Focusing on the “Global South”, participants will learn about and experience key issues such as poverty, sustainable development, indigenous identities, the lingering effects of colonialism, as well as the creative and vibrant ways communities are dealing with these issues and creating their own solutions. |
