| Bolivar IS during an internal workshop |
13 young activists from Bolivia, Venezuela, Cuba, and Brazil were invited onto Peace Boat for the Bolivar International Students (IS) programme. This gave them an opportunity to analyze the injustices of their respective countries, think about what changes can be made, and devise approaches for uniting Latin America into a region of peace and equality. |

Their joint efforts are part of a social and political movement taking place throughout Latin America. This movement aims to uphold the rights of indigenous people, repair environmental degradation, bridge the gap between the rich and poor, and stop adverse effects of globalization. |

After working together in workshops, members of the Bolivar IS were able to clearly outline the problems that have escalated in Latin America, such as the flaws in their education system and ways they can empower young people in their region to make changes. Though they are from different countries, they are part of the Latin America continent and acknowledge in order to initiate progress, they must work hand in hand. |
