Kimberlye Kowalczyk
Kimberlye Kowalczyk was born and raised in Kyoto, Japan. Her father is Polish-American, and her mother is Korean. Spending her childhood surrounded by a small international community of artists, academics, musicians, and spiritual muses, she has always cherished the importance of intercultural dialogue and global awareness when it comes to resolving conflict and building a society of positive peace.

After 19 years in Kyoto, Kimberlye moved to the United States and graduated from Antioch College with a degree in Peace Studies and Journalism. She is also certified through Transcend Peace University’s Peace Journalism course. While traveling in Cambodia, Korea, Japan, and India, and working with organizations like the Kyoto Journal (Kyoto, Japan) and Women’s Feature Service (New Delhi, India), she pursued her career as a writer and activist, before joining the Peace Boat as their web reporter for the 54th voyage.

She now teaches at public schools in Kyoto and lives on the Kamo River, directly west of the sacred Mount Hie. She is currently in search of a challenging new assignment and kindles great hope for the future.

You can further view a collection of her writing and resume on her blog “Between the Air and the Stillness”, at www.redsilvermoon.typepad.com.
