Over 100 participants joined the festivities of Indian Night put on by Global English Training teacher Sunita Mathur. She shared her culture by performing the traditional Southern Indian dance ‘Bhrata Natyam.’ With an imaginary flute in hand, her delicate dance steps brought the ancient “Tales of Krishna” to life.

Other activities of Indian Night included getting a henna tattoo, having your name written in Hindi, and eating delicious curry. Participants paraded around the pool and showed off their newly purchased saris. GET teachers also demonstrated various yoga poses and mediation breathing techniques. Though Peace Boat will not be making a stop in India on this voyage, participants got a good taste of India's rich culture and tradition.

Excitement and laughter could be heard throughout the ship as participants made their bids on items for the Sanaa Fundraising Auction. Items and services such as a one-hour Thai massage, a 1975 French Red Wine, and a deluxe sushi dinner were up for bid. The funds raised for the Sanaa Project will help repair the roofs and septic systems of Palestinian refugees living in Jordan. The auction's top selling items included a painting of Ankor Wat and a single night in Topaz's most luxurious bedroom suite. All together the auction raised 672,000 yen. Here, Communication Coordinators Ikumi Takahashi and Mimi Ishidate demonstrate their massage techniques on Voyage Director Nao Inoue.
