December 27, 2005 Web Reporter Profile
Having participated in the 41st and 43rd global voyages as a GET teacher, James Rodriguez joined the 52nd global voyage as the web reporter.

James, raised in Mexico City, learned at an early age the harsh realities of inequality found in our societies. Circumstances led to his migration to the Los Angeles area during his teenage years, and the vast wealth difference between his two countries inspired him to seek answers for such vast polarization. He earned a degree in Cultural Geography from the University of California, Los Angeles.

His curiosity in languages and culture took him to Japan, where he worked and lived in the southern city of Kagoshima for 3 years as a language teacher. After participating in consecutive Peace Boat voyages in 2003, James sought a return to Latin America. It was then that he participated as a Human Rights Observer and Accompanier with Peace Brigades International in Guatemala (www.peacebrigades.org).

James is currently pursuing a career in photojournalism, hence all photographs presented in the articles, unless otherwise noted, are credited to him. For more information, please contact his personal website at: www.mimundo.org.
