Ushuaia, Argentina – Ushuaia and Tierra del Fuego Fjords: Photo Tour |

Our ninth port of call on Peace Boat’s 52nd voyage was Ushuaia, Argentina, the world’s southernmost city. Located on the island of Tierra del Fuego, the small town is tucked away at the southern edge of the Patagonia, a vast wilderness region east of the Andes. |

Patagonia contains an immense diversity of flora and fauna amidst some of the world’s most breathtaking landscapes. |
For three days after departing Ushuaia, the Peace Boat followed a westerly route navigating the Strait of Magellan before heading northwards through the Chilean portion of Tierra del Fuego, known as Magallanes. |
Hundreds of islands and fjords make up this cold, mountainous and mostly uninhabited region, which contains the southernmost tail of the Andes mountain range. |
As average temperatures range at about 6° Celsius, a number of glaciers remain where the fjords meet valleys as well as between the mountains. |

February 21st was mostly spent cruising inside the Bernardo Higgins National Park in Chile, before entering the Pacific Ocean once more onwards to the port of Valparaiso.
