voyage no LAST UPDATE  January 10, 2006
Sailing from Japan on September 3, 2005, Peace Boat's 51st voyage for peace will follow a westward course around the globe, passing through the two great canals of Suez and Panama. Highlights of the voyage will include Peace Boat's first call to Havana, Cuba in several years and a three-day visit to Peru.

Onboard and on land our peace education programmes will focus on globalization and sustainability, with a special focus on the situation of indigenous peoples as we sail back to Japan through the Pacific islands. Following as it does the 60th Anniversary of the end of the Second World War and the dropping of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, this voyage will offer an opportunity to reflect on, and act towards improving, the state of war, peace and all aspects of human security in the world today.

Jonathan Isao Lin – a picture of strength.
Jonathan Isao Lin is a living example of determination and willpower. Despite being confined to a wheelchair, with no movement below his neck, he is a talented composer of music, and a role model for thousands – in his home in Taiwan, around the world, and onboard Peace Boat. With three members of his group – The Kawsan Dance Group – he came onboard to tell his inspiring story, and spread the fascinating culture of Taiwan. >>read more
