George Nina, a traditional Kenyan musician, gives an impromptu African drumming lesson. Guest educators bring new knowledge, experiences, and points of view to Peace Boat, making it a truly international experience for all involved. For many Japanese participants, the voyage is the first time they have had a chance to have extended contact with an international community. |

Jishyukikaku, or events planned, organized and carried out by participants, are a large part of life onboard. In the first two weeks of the voyage, participants have held events such as mah jong classes, postcard-making workshops, lectures, movie showings, and salsa dancing. This cheerleading class is a popular choice among young people onboard. |

The Global English/Espanol Training (GET) Program kicked off with an opening party attended by enthusiastic students of all ages. The GET Program approaches language education as a means of helping students use these languages as tools for international communication. At the party, students and other interested participants enjoyed drinks and conversation in English and Spanish. Here, students practice singing the GET theme song. |

After visiting Vietnam and Singapore, participants were treated to a special "Fruits Party" in which they enjoyed tropical fruits from these two areas. In addition to well-known tropical fruit such as pineapple, orange, and grapefruit, attendees were able to sample rare fruits, including dragon fruit, star fruit, and the "King of Fruits", the durian. The fine tropical breeze was complimented by traditional African music performed by guest musician and educator Peter Orwa and his Band, hailing from Kenya. |

With so many lectures, workshops, activities, and events happing, people often forget to set aside time to relax. Onboard Peace Boat, participants are encouraged to create their own experience, which can include as many or as few activities as they wish. These gentlemen are engaged in a round of Go, a challenging game that involves intricate strategies, despite its simple appearance. |
