May 1, 2006 Peace Boat officially announced the launch of it's new project in cooperation with Victor Entertainment. Inc.
This collaboration brings together the talents and skills of over 50 Japanese musicians, and the recording of the CD single has just been completed in Tokyo. Entitled 'Yell from Nippon', the CD will be released as a theme song for the Japan national team for the 2006 World Cup. 100 Yen from each purchase of the CD will be donated to the 'Peace Ball Project 2006'. The Peace Boat 'Peace Ball' project organizes goodwill games and the donation of football related equipment to youth from all over the world. Victor Entertainment has approached Peace Boat expressing an interest in this project, which has resulted in a collaborative effort to bring donations to the youth and children of Eritrea, and to the Eritrean Football Federation. Football remains hugely popular in Eritrea despite the lack of the most basic resources, even footballs. Plans are currently under way for a football themed cultural exchange overland programme for Peace Boats' 54th Global Voyage to Eritrea on 21-22 August of this year. The CD 'Yell from Nippon' will be available after general release on May 31.
The promotion video will also feature footage from Eritrea shot by Peace Boat staff members.
