 |
| 6 international students from 3 countries are accompanied by 2 coordinators for their environmental and artistic programme |
Onboard Peace Boat`s 68th global voyage between Buenos Aires and Valparaiso, six youth from Environmental organizations and artistic backgrounds from Uruguay, Argentina and Chile will join Peace Boat to carry out discussions and to increase awareness about environmental issues in South America. Peace Boat offers this leadership training programme to active youth in Latin America to give them the opportunity to exchange ideas and opinions face to face with people from other countries and form a network of environmental activists and artists in the region. Visiting the ports of Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Ushuaia, Punta Arenas and Valparaiso, the youth will have a first-hand look at the beautiful nature of South America and the environmental issues each country is facing. During the voyage, working together with the participants onboard, their presentations will focus on access to clean water, climate change, the protection of the nature in Patagonia and other important environmental issues affecting their region today. |

The environmental youth activist programme onboard is designed to strengthen the global ties in Latin America and encourage solidarity amongst Asian and South American countries. As representatives from the environmental movement in South America, two activists from each environmental organization (CODEFF, REDES, and PROTEGER) will come together to write a declaration to support the Campaign to make Patagonia a World Heritage Site, recognized by UNESCO. As a closure to their onboard program, the students will participate in a press conference in Valpraiso, Chile, co-organized by the environmental NGO CODEFF (National Committee to Protect the Flora and Fauna of Chile) and Peace Boat. |
