Peace Boat is pleased to announce it has teamed up with the award-winning NGO PEPY to create a unique two-week programme in April of 2010 that will allow participants to discover Asia or greatly deepen their experiences in the region through a combination of study, volunteer work, and travel by ship, bicycle, and plane.

This new Discover Asia programme will give participants an opportunity to travel with Peace Boat to the 69th Global Voyage for Peace's first three ports of call - Yokohama, Japan; Xiamen, China, and Da Nang, Viet Nam - then travel to Cambodia to experience the majestic and unforgettable temples of Angkor and experience rural Cambodia by contributing to ongoing projects of both PEPY and Peace Boat. The programme will visit a school near Koh Ker funded by Peace Boat, in which PEPY is now working to contribute a classroom library. Here, you will have the chance to learn directly about the Cambodian education system from the teachers and principal, and participate in a cultural exchange with the students.

Onboard Peace Boat, participants will have the opportunity to participate in the numerous events, workshops and lectures that take place daily, as well as experience the direct testimony of the ten Hibakusha (survivors of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki) that will be joining the voyage as part of Peace Boat's Global Voyage for a Nuclear Free World.

In Cambodia, programme participants can enjoy bike rides, cultural performances, and visits to the temples of Angkor with students from one of PEPY's six schools in the Chanleas Dai area in their first ever study tour of the temples.

Peace Boat is committed to the removal of land mines from Cambodia, the rebuilding of the country's education system after decades of war, and the creation of a culture of peace around the world. As with all itineraries from Peace Boat and PEPY Tours, this trip was created with community support in mind, providing substantial funding for educational programmes in rural Cambodia and inspiring life changes in the travelers who join us.
