Free Gaza Event – one year on |
|
|
On December 26, 2009, Peace Boat, along with other NGOs working on Palestinian issues, held an event called “One Year after the Gaza Attack – Light of Life to Palestine!” at the Tsukiji Honganji Temple in Tokyo.
The event started with a discussion between journalist Furui Mizue and writer Amamiya Karin. Ms Furui, highly knowledgeable on Palestinian issues, gave an updated report on the current situation in Palestine, including the serious infringements of human rights taking place, and shared future prospects of the issue. |

Afterward, the group created a candlelight message reading “FREE GAZA” in front of the temple's main hall. Although the event was held during the end-of-the year rush, more than 200 people participated in the event and called for an end to Israeli’s blockade on Gaza. |

Gaza's grave situation is only worsening, and the situation remains unpredictable. Peace Boat will continue to support people in Gaza through both advocacy and humanitarian aid, and keep bringing the world's attention to this issue. |
