February 18, 2008 ARTcle 9 Festa vol.3 peace x art = eARTh
Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution is a promise not to wage war or maintain an army – a groundbreaking statement which denies violence and military force as a tool for conflict resolution.

The "Art-kuru 9" project aims to express the peaceful principles of Article 9 through a variety of art and media. Rather than just focusing on protecting Article 9, we are expressing through art the imagining and creation of a world based on Article 9.

The third Art-kuru 9 event will be held on February 24, with the theme of peace and the environment. Through music and workshops, we will consider issues such as environmental destruction brought on through conflict and wars, as well as the way the environment is sacrificed through the pursuit of profit.

Exhibiting work from Japanese and international artists, and with inspiring music from around the world, this event will be a chance to reflect upon the creative principles of Article 9, and its inspiring potential to contribute to the creation of another world.
