December 1, 2004 Stop the construction of a US military heliport in Henoko, Okinawa!
Peace Boat sends protest delegation and commences fundraising campaign.
Peace Boat’s protest in the waters surrounding Henoko
On September 9, 2004, the Defense Facilities Administration Bureau started surveying the seabed near Henoko, Nago City, Okinawa for the construction of a proposed US military heliport facility. In response to this news, Peace Boat has sent a protest delegation to Henoko with the help of long-term supporter, writer Haitani Kenjiro. Mr Haitani assisted Peace Boat in this campaign by generously allowing the use of his personal boat. This boat is being used to mount a constant protest in the waters adjacent to Henoko.

The boat is currently holding its position in the waters surrounding Henoko. In order to continue this effort, the costs incurred amount to over 10,000 yen a day. We are currently accepting donations to help continue this effort. Please help us and the people of Henoko raise our voices against the building of further US military facilities in Okinawa and Okinawa.
