Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution renounces war as a means of settling international disputes and prohibits the maintenance of armed forces and other war potential.
Global Voyage for a Nuclear Free World - Peace Boat Hibakusha Project
Hibakusha (survivors of the atomic bombing in Hiroshima and Nagasaki) participate in Peace Boat voyages to share their tragic experiences, educate people and youth in particular about the human costs of nuclear weapons and call for their abolition.
Nuclear Power Free World
Peace Boat has for many years campaigned on nuclear related issues, both for the abolition of nuclear weapons and also nuclear power. Since March 2011 Peace Boat has been particularly working on relief and advocacy related to the nuclear disaster.
Peace Boat Disaster Volunteer Relief Centre
Peace Boat is conducting emergency relief efforts for those suffering as a result of the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Northeast Japan. Volunteers, donations of goods and financial donations sought.
Peace Boat Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) Campaign
In addition to activities including education on the MDGs, Peace Boat is sailing with the United Nations Millennium Campaign's "End Poverty 2015" logo painted on its ship's hull in an awareness raising effort.
